CUTE EMBELISHMENTS

When I had the crafty day with Maz and Chris I made a note of a couple of things I wanted to try and get hold of (other than the Cuttlebug). Chris had some really cute embelishments that she uses in Scrapbooking and I wanted to get hold of some. A quick Google search let me to Madcowbeads. Can highly recommend prices and quick delivery.

ALTERED ART

In the January sales I bought a couple of toiletry sets in plain containers with a zip top thinking that I could do some altered art in the style of the great Lord Timmie.  Wanted something for Sophia's birthday so had to make this in a bit of a hurry and was quite pleased with the outcome. Its hard to know when to stop.  Even after I took the photo I added a few more bits. Glad I have another one to do.

Here is the final version decorated with K and Co papers and later (after the photo) with some Tim Holtz stickers from the Lost and Found collection.

Talking of altered things- I have altered my blog template. I had wanted to use a lovely Waterhouse background but I need to work out how to do it yet.  It is good for my education to work it out without asking Jonny for help!

CUTTLEBUG ENVY

Had a fab day today. Two crafting friends, Maz and Chris, came round and we chatted and played. Both of them arrived with lots of lovely goodies especially their Cuttlebugs- I really want one- no I really need one.  We made a card designed by one of the scrappers which Chris goes to.  Chris is really into scrapping and brought some of her albums for us to look at- we should have spent longer looking but the talking and crafting got in the way.  The card we made had quite a few die cut and embossed elements.  I will be giving this card to Sophia for her birthday.

We also made a Post-It note holder vintage style.  Used the lovely photos which I downloaded free- the name of the site isMagic Moonlight and they have some beautiful pics on there. http://magicmoonlightstudio.blogspot.com/ and http://magicmoonlightfreeimages.blogspot.com/

Our third project should have been teacup candles but the wax I ordered did not arrive in time so the girls took their cups to do at home.  More time for Cuttlebugging.

SIBOLDI GIRLS GO CRAFTING PT 3

On Sunday morning before the long drive home we covered the match boxes to go with the tea cups and then Mum let me plunder her huge bag of old lace so I can use them in my vintage projects.  I also made a box and tag as I am going to give Carol one of the tea cups for her birthday.

Mum also started me off with a felted sewing project inspired by the felt landscapes done by Aileen Clarke. (Love her blog).  She painted onto bondaweb and then transferred the colours onto the felt ready for some decorative stitching and finally some little embroidered sheep.  Not sure when I am going to get the time to finish it but it will be something to look forward to. Watch this space.

Then it was pack up time and Sunday lunch at the Dog and Duck in Walkington (roast lamb- yummy). Had an inspired idea about a quilt design incorporating a celtic design panel which has been bugging me so all in all a very successful weekend. (Pity about the broken tooth on Friday night at the restaurant we went to celebrate Jonny's birthday- going to end up a very expensive meal!)  Four hours to get home plus a little nap at Leicester Forest services. Not bad.

SIBOLDI GIRLS GO CRAFTING PT 2

After a lovely lunch it was my turn to be project leader.  I fancied making some vintage shabby chic items inspired by a fellow blogger.  I came prepared with some downloaded freebees and we all made a card in a box and Post-It note holders.

My card is for Carol's birthday this weekend.  The picture is a young Queen Mum - Carol is a big fan of the royal family so I thought she would like this.

Here is Mum's card. Not sure she really likes paper crafting but she humoured me.

Here is mine and Gina's  Post-It note book- got the card and template in the US a couple of years didnt get chance to use it.

We also made up some paper gift boxes from a K&Co pad as Gina wanted to give some gifts to her friends that night.........

and finally the scene of devastation which we had to clear up before our fish and chip supper... good times!

SIBOLDI GIRLS GO CRAFTING PT 1

Had a wonderful, if somewhat hectic 28 hours up in Yorkshire last weekend. Went up for a crafting session with my Mum and Sister - it was great to have a girly get together.  We all contributed to the fun. First it was china tea cup candles which was organised by Gina. Mum and Gina had been going round all the charity shops in the area buying up cups and saucers and ended up with 16 to do on the day. Gina organised the wicks and wax and away we went.

Not sure Mum was impressed with us using her pans and cooker- but we did clear up afterwards.

It was amazingly good fun and quick to do - I am totally hooked.

The finishing touch was a box of matches decorated to match the cup and then some cellophane wrapping.

A CARD FOR JONNY

Putting a second card on my blog for Jonny's birthday must mean I have been doing this for nearly a year.  Like last year I did a card representing what he likes.  This year he was absolutely determined to travel and have a good holiday so he is beating us by already being booked up- he is going to San Francisco in June to a rock festival with 3 friends.  They have organised it all themselves...

The card is a mix of internet clipart and some pieces from a Tim Holtz collection of scaps.
