Obsessions

There are alot of obsessive behaviour traits in my family and amongst the women folk it seems to show itself in the form of hoarding and collecting.  My Mum and I collect fabric which we just like to look at and stroke and then pack away in endless boxes which clutter the spare bedroom (s).  I'm mentioning this as I can feel myself slipping into the collecting mode with tea cups. What started as a weekend craft project to make tea cup candles is taking over. I cant pass a charity shop (and there are alot in my area) without popping in to see if I can find something interesting.  My husband isnt impressed as he is a bit of a minimalist and doesnt like clutter.

Here is a cup which has been part of my collection until recently but I have now parted with it as a gift to a friend.  I tried to research the origins of the 6364 marking- it is very similar to the Art Deco design Collingwood Blue Florinda 6494  but not quite. For once Google let me down.

Time to go and sort out some of my paper collection and make a couple of cards....seem to spend alot of time sorting and not enough crafting.

Bye Byes in Barcelona

A close friend based in our Barcelona office is retiring this week and I was lucky enough to arrange a quick trip over to see her last week.  She is a real anglophile so I decided to give her a china tea cup with a Yankie Candle and co-ordinating match box. The pattern is Paragon Victoriana Rose.

I also made her a Venice themed card using elements from the Debbi Moore Venetian CDs and embellished with one of the plaster masks which Lou brought me back from Venice.

SIBOLDI GIRLS GO CRAFTING PT 1

Had a wonderful, if somewhat hectic 28 hours up in Yorkshire last weekend. Went up for a crafting session with my Mum and Sister - it was great to have a girly get together.  We all contributed to the fun. First it was china tea cup candles which was organised by Gina. Mum and Gina had been going round all the charity shops in the area buying up cups and saucers and ended up with 16 to do on the day. Gina organised the wicks and wax and away we went.

Not sure Mum was impressed with us using her pans and cooker- but we did clear up afterwards.

It was amazingly good fun and quick to do - I am totally hooked.

The finishing touch was a box of matches decorated to match the cup and then some cellophane wrapping.
